Self-reflection and self-awareness are highly beneficial and increases your emotional intelligence, your self-awareness, and you get a better understanding of how your emotions work. Also, you can become aware of different strengths and weaknesses you have and how you can overcome both of those and use them to your advantage.

So, this is an analysis of yourself to get a better understanding of who you are as a person. So without further ado, let’s move on to “5 Self-Reflection Exercises.

Exercise 1: MBTI Personality Test

So, the first self-reflection exercise is your MBTI personality test. MBTI stands for “Myers-Briggs Type Indicator,” and this is actually a personality test that you take and it tells you your personality type. Also, there are 16 different personalities, so to figure out your personality type, there is a list of questions that you can take.

So, this basically tells you where you are with parenthood, your career paths, your work habits and there’re so many different things based on whatever personality type you are. When you do your personality test, you can understand your strengths, weaknesses and you can see what you can improve. Since there are 16 different personality types, there are so many different options available and therefore it’s very personalized.

Exercise 2: Find Your Home

The second self-reflection exercise that you can do is find your home. By home, it means that write down all the things that make you feel homey, comfortable, excited and feel like you belong. So, write down the location of where you are, the time of the day it is who you’re with &, etc. Also, what you’ll get from this is that things that make you feel the most at peace and at home are being away from your life and being with the people that you love.

Exercise 3:  Empathy Map

So, the third self-reflection exercise is an empathy map, and it engages all of your five senses. This helps you to get to know your needs and dissimilarities between what you utter and what you actually do.

First, Put a cross through your paper and on the top left box write down what you’re thinking, on the top right box write down what you’re seeing, on the bottom left to write down what you’re is feeling and then on the bottom right write down what you’re doing. Finally, write down your ideas on the back.

Exercise 4: Seven (7) Dimensions of Wellness

The fourth self-reflection exercise is seven dimensions of wellness. There are 7 dimensions of wellness in life;

  1. Physical
  2. Intellectual
  3. Emotional
  4. Social
  5. Spiritual
  6. Occupational
  7. Environmental

What you can do when you go through the seven dimensions of wellness is rate them on a scale of 1 to 10. Then analyze where you are, what you are satisfied with and see which one you’re giving more energy to versus ones that you’re almost forgetting and lacking. Because you want to make sure that you are taken care of all of these to be a happier person. When you can get these all on the satisfying level, you will be living a really healthy abundant life.

Exercise 5: Force Field Analysis

So, the fifth and final self-reflection exercise is the force field analysis. You’re going to describe a situation in your life and analyze the following.

  • Identify Outer Drivers: How are they connected to your thoughts and beliefs.
  • Identify Outer Blockers: Things that block you externally
  • Identify Internal Drivers Identify Internal Blockers
